Over the past 20 years, the web has transformed from a tool for the scientists at CERN to an information access centre for the world to a platform where people can get things done. Web 2.0 is this transition from the web being a static information access point to a dynamic, customizable and social platform. IIL contributes to this transformation of the web. We are currently working on one extension of Web 2.0, viz. Travel 2.0 where we aim at building technological revolutions in the travel industry. Travel 2.0 is all about “empowering” the user and enabling them to share information online that can be accessed by other travellers. We take the information to the traveller, rather than them searching for it.

AR Browser

Augmented Reality adds data and meaning to a real world object. Unlike virtual reality, AR takes a real object or space and adds contextual data that helps the user. AR finds its use in a lot of human assistance applications like driving, education, tourism etc. India Innovation Labs is building an AR browser that can be used to easily deploy AR content. People can also develop and deploy AR content directly on a web page using our tools.

VR Browser

360 degree panorama is the most widely used virtual reality tool on the web. This allows the user to see a full spherical view of a location but they cannot move or translate in that space. 3D virtual reality applications are otherwise built as standalone applications that users need to download and install. India Innovation Labs is developing tools that will help users to build 3D worlds on the web. This helps in developing rich remote experiences which will find extensive use in tourism.
